Stunning PS5 design blends the past and future of PlayStation

The design of the PS5 itself has yet to be released by Sony, which has combined parts of the PS4 and DualSense controller into one sleek machine.

These renderings, created by Jermaine "Concept Creator" Smit (via LetsGoDigital), use the DualSense controller design as the basis for the color palette and lines of the PS5 itself. three-layered design, highlighting the PS4 Pro-like appearance with the same blue lighting found on the DualSense, except where the disk drive is located.

Smit has previously created another rendering of the PS5, but this latest rendering has been modified to better reflect the two-tone coloring of the DualSense controller and is more similar in both design and function to the PS4 and earlier consoles' This is a significant departure from the dual-shock style controllers.

Of course, if the black and white version of the PS5 did not please Smit, he designed an all-black version, the traditional PlayStation color scheme. Sony has sold white and black consoles (or gray in the case of the original PlayStation) in the past, but never mixed them together. It remains to be seen whether the company will sell a single-color console or whether only two-color styles like this concept will be available for purchase.

Microsoft has already shown us most of the design and specs of the Xbox Series X. The only thing we know for sure about Sony's new design is what the new DualSense controller will look like. Both sides in the upcoming console wars have also revealed their internal specs, with the Xbox offering more power, while the PS5 will theoretically offer a greater variety of immersive features beyond graphics.

We expect both consoles to launch before the end of the year. Given what the launch pattern of the previous generation was, probably around November. The Coronavirus outbreak has caused some concern about delays in the hardware and associated launch titles, but so far both seem confident that they will meet their launch goals.
