Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Leak reveals stunning Apple Watch 6 rivals

New images of the Galaxy Watch 3 have leaked. This high-resolution image makes the smartwatch look like a handsome competitor to the upcoming Apple Watch 6.

The leak was posted by Evan Blass, a longtime leaker who has provided reliable information to smartphone and wearables enthusiasts. It is only one image, but it shows the Galaxy Watch 3 from both the front and the back.

On the outside of the face, a toothed bezel can be seen. This is not just for show, as on the original Galaxy Watch, but is actually the primary method of navigation outside of the touchscreen, allowing users to scroll through app wheels, as seen in previous leaks.

Because of this toothy bezel, we can assume this is the larger 45mm version of the watch. Previous leaks had reported that there were 45mm and 41mm face options, with the 41mm having a smooth bezel instead. We have seen some images of the smaller face (see below), but expect to see images similar to this leak of the 41mm model in the near future.

The leather strap is also prominent in this image. We expect Samsung to offer other materials like silicone and make the Galaxy Watch 3 fit standard watch strap sizes like the original model, giving users the option of using a non-Samsung strap.

A closer look at the back of the watch reveals that the casing is made of stainless steel. This is one of two rumored options for the Galaxy Watch 3's material, the other being titanium.

There is other interesting information about Samsung's new smartwatch that does not appear in this image: the Galaxy Watch 3 runs on Tizen OS 5.5, the latest version of Samsung's OS for wearables, and can track the wearer's blood pressure and ECG. It is capable of tracking the wearer's blood pressure and ECG. Depending on the size selected, it has a 247mAh or 340mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage for running and storing watch apps.

So what about the Apple Watch 6, which is expected to be announced around September alongside the iPhone 12? Apple will likely keep the square design rather than change to a round-faced watch like Samsung has adopted; in addition to sleep tracking built into watchOS 7, the Apple Watch 6 will offer blood oxygen level detection, also known as SpO2 monitoring, rumored to offer a better way to track anxiety and mental health.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 is rumored to be available as early as July, so we will likely see more leaked information as the announcement gets closer.
