Xbox Series X can get a killer monopoly against PS4 in this PS5 billion move

If the Xbox Series X is to compete with the PS5, it will need a strong lineup of exclusive games, not just "Halo Infinite". With Microsoft reportedly considering the acquisition of Warner Bros. Interactive, that may be the case.

WB Interactive has already received a lot of interest from game publishers such as Electronic Arts, Blizzard, and Activision, but The Information reported that Microsoft is the latest company to set its eyes on Warner Bros.' game division reported that Microsoft is the latest company to take a look at Warner Bros. However, it would likely have to pay about $4 billion to do so, an amount that parent company AT&T is reportedly trying to sell the company for, according to CNBC.

Microsoft is no stranger to acquiring game developers and bringing them under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella. It has already acquired Minecraft developer Mojang, Obsidian Entertainment, Rare, Playground Games, and The Coalition.

The acquisition of WB Interactive is a big step for Microsoft. The acquisition of WB Interactive would be a big step for Microsoft, as it would not simply be acquiring a studio, but a full-fledged publisher. In doing so, Xbox Game Studios will gain access to popular game IPs such as Harry Potter, Batman, Mortal Kombat, and LEGO.

This would put Microsoft in a position to have a number of exclusive games for the Xbox Series X, what is considered the Xbox Series S, and Windows 10 gaming PCs. If this happens, Redmond's next generation console, or indeed any console, could have an advantage over the PS5.

Sony's next console already has several exclusive titles lined up, including "Horizon Forbidden West" and "Gran Turismo 7," and more are on the way. However, the range of exclusive titles is by no means wide at the moment. Therefore, if Microsoft acquires WB Interactive and uses it to produce a variety of exclusive games, the PS5 may find itself on the back burner.

However, there is no concrete evidence that Microsoft will indeed acquire WB Interactive. Therefore, we will have to wait for the Xbox's exclusive gaming event on July 23.
