No one knows yet when Apple's new iPhone 12 model is planned for the fall. However, rumors out of Cupertino suggest that the latest iPhone is getting ready to close up.

LeaksApplePro's Twitter account, in a tweet discovered by WCCFTech, claims that filming for the iPhone 12 launch event is underway. due to COVID-19 and the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the iPhone 12 launch event will likely be virtual. After all, Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference keynote was pre-recorded in June and warmly received by Apple fans.

Nevertheless, depending on which rumors you believe, it seems a little early in the calendar year to start committing iPhone 12 launch plans to video. One rumor posted on Komiya's Twitter account claims that September 8 or September 22 would be the big day for the iPhone 12. If true, Apple would have three to five weeks to film, edit, and fine-tune the iPhone 12 announcement.

However, another rumor from leaker Jon Prosser claims that the iPhone 12 launch event will take place on October 12. There is a very long gap between when Apple is supposedly filming the launch video and when the launch video will see the light of day--assuming, of course, that any of these rumors are actually accurate.

Apple certainly has a lot to talk about at its fall launch event: in addition to the iPhone 12, Apple is said to be talking about the new iPad Pro, Apple Watch Series 6, and the long-rumored AirTags. Rumor experts also raise the possibility that AirPower (Apple's announced and then discarded wireless charging mat) will return this fall.

As for the iPhone 12 itself, Apple is reportedly planning to bring out four models, all of which will feature OLED screens and 5G connectivity. The more expensive iPhone 12 Pro model will reportedly feature a fast refresh display and a LiDAR sensor included in the rear camera array.

Rumors suggest that Apple may shift the iPhone 12 release date, with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max launching in October and the Pro model possibly launching in November. Apple has already confirmed that we will not see any new iPhones in September.
