iPhone12 just before the leak revealed killer camera upgrade

Until now, most iPhone 12 rumors have focused on size, price, and key specs like the A14 Bionic chip and storage. Now, however, the iPhone 12's camera upgrade is coming into focus, and there is a lot to break down.

According to @Pineleaks, a Twitter account associated with trusted tech leaker Max Weinbach, both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max have a lot to offer, from significant improvements in the zoom of the regular iPhone 12 model to iPhone 12 Pros to the improved night mode of the iPhone 12 Pros, both offer a number of camera enhancements.

Here's everything you need to know about the iPhone 12 camera.

As MacRumors first discovered, Weinbach says "digital zoom and optical zoom will be greatly enhanced this year." iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 will not have a telephoto lens, so they will have to rely on software. However, we can expect "significantly enhanced digital zoom, both in terms of image quality and distance."

For the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, Weinbach said the telephoto has been tested with 3x optical zoom. However, a leak by Kang on Weibo earlier this week stated that the iPhone 12 would reach 4x optical zoom and the iPhone 12 Pro Max would reach 5x. [This is comparable to the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy Note 20, but not the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's 50x.

It doesn't stop there. Weinbach tweeted that the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max's night mode will also work with the telephoto camera. And there may be a "kind of macro camera feature" that will allow users to get 2.2 cm closer to objects compared to the iPhone 11 Pro.

Finally, regarding the camera, it appears that the iPhone 12's ultra-wide camera will get a larger aperture for better performance in low light.

So what about battery life; Weinbach has some information on this as well, claiming that the iPhone 12 Pro model will have an extra hour of battery life. The bad news: the iPhone 5.4-inch 12 mini will have a smaller battery than the current iPhone 11 due to its design and smaller battery.

As previously rumored, Weinbach states that the iPhone 12 will offer faster Face ID, and he explains why. He says this will be made possible by a "dynamic zoning algorithm" feature. Additionally, the iPhone 12 mini's notch may be smaller in width.

The entire lineup will be unveiled at Apple's iPhone 12 event on October 13, so we will soon know if all these leaks are legit.
