If I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars on a new iPhone 12, I want to make sure it's properly protected. The last thing you want, however, is to pay for a flawed iPhone 12 case that interferes with the phone's operation.

Such has happened more than once, and several users have complained about Apple iPhone 12 cases that do not have speaker holes. speaker holes are a necessity if you want to use the iPhone's speakers.

At least two Reddit threads have reported cases where users have purchased iPhone 12 Pro cases and noticed the lack of speaker holes. When the iPhone 12 is plugged into such a case, the built-in speaker is muffled at best, and at worst, completely unusable.

And these are not just any cases, they are Apple's new MagSafe cases, which hold the phone in place when charging.

Reddit user u/zarnold16 claims that Apple customer support was not particularly helpful with this issue. Naturally, they did not believe their explanation, and other users have confirmed that they purchased the same case without speaker holes.

Did anyone else have flashbacks to the iPhone 4 "holding it wrong" fiasco?

u/zarnold16 was eventually told to go to an Apple Store to replace the case before the release date, but u/Natebaako was able to replace the case without any problems. The Apple Store employees seemed shocked to see such a strange defect. So, apparently this problem is not well known at this time.

Since only a few cases are currently being reported, those with Apple MagSafe iPhone 12 cases probably do not have this problem. Nevertheless, quality control is not perfect, so in the unlikely event that the speaker holes are missing (or there is some other manufacturing issue), please contact Apple support. Alternatively, you can go to an Apple Store to have it replaced with a non-defective one.
