Here's how to get PS4 data on PS5:

PS5s have begun to be mailed out to reviewers ahead of the November 12 launch. A strict embargo has prevented us from getting any new photos of the console, let alone full impressions, for a while yet, but Sony has allowed us to share photos of the box.

This may not sound like the most fertile ground for news, but the package reveals some interesting things. First, there is a message for existing PS4 users.

"You can transfer your data to the PS5 console in the following ways," the advisory text says, and existing PlayStation family members can either connect to the same network, move their PS4 extended storage drive to the PS5, or use the same account to sign in, it clarifies.

Sony notes that the latest version of the system software must be installed for the data transfer to work. However, assuming that is not a problem, the new console will be able to retrieve "data such as game history, trophies, profile and friend information."

There is no mention of saved game data, which is unsurprising, to say the least, given the confusion in Sony's messaging on the matter. In short, it's up to the developer, but just in case, it's best to finish any outstanding PS4 titles before launch day.

Another lesson to be learned from the PS5 box? It's big - bigger than the PS4 package, which is no big surprise since we know the PS5 will be the biggest console ever, but putting the two side by side is still a sight to behold.

You'll want to bend your knees when you pick it up, too. Journalist Geoff Keighley found a creative way to keep you interested without taking the PS5 out of the box or upsetting Sony.
