The OnePlus Nord was one of the most talked about phones of the year, offering premium features for a sub-$500 5G phone. However, U.S. phone buyers may have felt left out of the party. To date, the OnePlus Nord is only available in Europe and India, and on this side of the Atlantic, we'll have to wait for a budget phone rival to compete with the Google Pixel 4a and iPhone SE.

That wait may soon be over, as OnePlus has announced two new phones joining the Nord lineup. And while these phones will first arrive in the UK and the rest of Europe, a North American launch appears to be in OnePlus' plans.

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is the most intriguing of the two models. While handset makers often adjust their prices for specific markets, this phone will debut at £329. This means that the OnePlus 5G phone could be cheaper than the $499 Pixel 4a 5G.

According to OnePlus, the phone will launch in the UK in November. It is unclear how long the U.S. launch will follow.

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G has some features that one would not expect from a budget device: a 6.49-inch Full HD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate, which exceeds the 60 Hz found on most phones, makes scrolling through web pages smoother and other experiences more immersive.

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G's 4,300 mAh battery uses OnePlus' Warp Charge 30T fast charging technology, which is found in more expensive flagship models like the OnePlus 8. The newly released OnePlus 8T charges even faster, but the OnePlus Nord N10 5G will also charge quickly, as a 30W charge has been shown to bring a depleted phone up to 68% after 30 minutes.

The back of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G has four lenses, with the 64MP main sensor joined by an ultra-wide angle lens with a 119-degree field of view. The other two sensors are dedicated macro and monochrome lenses.

If there is one area where OnePlus has compromised, it is in the mobile processor: the N10 5G uses the Snapdragon 690 system-on-chip, which includes a 5G modem (though it does not support mmWave-based 5G, which offers the highest speeds). The Snapdragon 690 outperforms other Qualcomm 6 series chipsets in budget smartphones, but is nowhere near the Snapdragon 765G found in the original OnePlus Nord.

OnePlus augments the Snapdragon 690 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Expandable storage allows the capacity to be increased to 512GB. It also features OnePlus' Oxygen interface, but the N10 5G runs Oxygen 10.5 built on Android 10, rather than the new Android 11-based version on the OnePlus 8T.

If the OnePlus Nord N10 5G is intended to retain some premium features in an affordable 5G device, the OnePlus Nord N100, also announced today (October 26), sounds strictly like a budget phone. Priced at 179 pounds (about $233), it appears to be comparable to Motorola's G series.

The OnePlus Nord N100 will be available in the UK on November 10. No North American release date has been announced.

This is due to the 5,000 mAh battery that OnePlus is including in the Nord N100. This is the same size as the batteries found in phones like the Moto G Power, which currently tops our Best Smartphone Battery Life list; the Nord N100's battery supports 18W charging, so it should charge faster.

The OnePlus Nord N100 has three rear cameras, with a 13MP main sensor and support for a bokeh lens for portrait shots and a macro shooter. The three lenses are built on a Snapdragon 460 and support three ISP that can do so. The Snapdragon 460 also promises improved graphics performance compared to other budget smartphones and adds Qualcomm's AI engine.

6. The 52-inch OnePlus Nord N100 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage; like the N10 5G, it runs OxygenOS 10.5.
