Apple Confirms iPhone12MagSafe Issue - What you Need to Know

While Apple has made quite a splash with the relaunch of its MagSafe brand, it is clear that the new magnetic wireless charging system is not without its problems.

One of the issues that has emerged is the concern that the charger may damage the iPhone 12 case, and Apple needs to address this issue as soon as possible. In short, MagSafe could affect the case, but it is not all bad news.

Apple is not often quick to address these kinds of rumors. However, they have confirmed that MagSafe will affect the leather on the back of the official leather iPhone 12 case in the Apple Store.

According to Apple, prolonged use of the MagSafe charger can cause round marks to appear on the back of the case. According to Apple, prolonged use of the MagSafe charger may cause round marks to appear on the back of the case.

If this is an accurate interpretation of how MagSafe affects leather, it is not that big of a deal. Actual damage to the leather is one thing, but a round indentation is quite another. Some may take offense to the fact that it is there, but it can easily be put away as a design quirk, especially since it is so close to the existing Apple logo.

If this indentation is not needed, Apple advises customers to choose another case instead, stating: "The interaction with the MagSafe accessory will leave a slight imprint (as shown in the last image in the gallery). If this is a concern, we recommend using a silicone or clear case for the iPhone 12 | 12 Pro."

Thankfully, there are plenty of great options when it comes to iPhone 12 cases, including those that are MagSafe compatible, although if you want to avoid the MagSafe imprint, you might want to choose something quite solid.

Also, keep credit cards and other important devices away from the MagSafe charger itself.
