Xbox Series X Flies past PS5 with Star Wars Squadron Upgrade - Here's how

While Microsoft acknowledges performance issues with the Xbox Series X, there is no doubt that it will be the perfect next-generation console for playing the impressive Star Wars Squadrons.

This is thanks to upgrades to both the Series X and Xbox Series S that support 120 frames per second and 4K resolution in EA's latest Star Wars game, as well as visual upgrades and variable frame rate support. PS5 also has the "Star Wars Squadrons" upgrade is available, but it does not appear to support the same high frame rate.

In Star Wars Squadrons, a game that is all about fast travel in speedy fighter-sized spaceships, a solid high frame rate will greatly enhance the experience. Of course, utilizing 120fps mode on the Xbox Series X and Series S requires a proper HDMI 2.1 connection and a 4K TV that supports 120Hz refresh rates,

but the option to achieve high frame rates in games that are all about aerial combat and zero-G dogfights is definitely an ace in the hole for Microsoft's next generation of consoles.

Even if you don't have a 120fps capable 4K TV, support for variable frame rates would be useful as it would help prevent so-called screen tearing when frame rates drop below 120fps or 60fps. 60fps is a great option for "Star Wars Squadrons" will run at 4K frame rates on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, which should ensure a crisp and smooth piloting experience.

Additionally, with improved lighting and graphics, "Star Wars Squadrons" is expected to look even better on Sony and Microsoft's new consoles. Overall, however, the Xbox Series X seems to have the edge over the PS5 in terms of delivering a completely upgraded "Star Wars Squadrons" experience.
