OLED displays have been a top TV technology for the past few years, providing great picture quality with stunning contrast. And LG's OLED TVs will look better than ever with OLED evo, a new OLED panel technology announced at CES 2021. The new second-generation OLED displays will arrive in 2021 and provide the first major update to LG's OLED panels since the introduction of HDR in 2015.

The new second-generation panel, dubbed OLED evo, will boast the same high-contrast clarity as current OLED panels, but LG has updated the technology with new light-emitting elements that increase overall brightness and color gamut.

The average TV pixel is made up of red, blue, and green; in a self-emitting display like an OLED, these elements provide light as well as color; LG claims that the OLED evo produces more light per pixel, with improved red and blue brightness and an added green element With the increased brightness of all three colors, the OLED evo is brighter than any previous OLED, providing punchier images and better HDR performance.

The LG OLED evo will only be available on LG's Gallery G1 OLED TV in 2021, but will likely be available on other premium OLED model lines in the future. For now, however, only LG's most premium 4K line of OLED TVs will offer premium and better performance, distinguished by the brighter OLED evo technology.

The LG Gallery G1 OLED will be available in 55", 65", and 77" sizes. Pricing and availability have not been announced, but a spring release in March or April is expected. [LG's new QNED TVs feature mini LED backlighting and combine NanoCell technology with quantum dot enhancement for better color and brightness.
