Development of the Nintendo Switch exclusive "Bayonetta 3" may not be as far along as fans are hoping. And according to an interview with PlatinumGames co-founder Hideki Kamiya, we should forget about "Bayonetta 3" for the time being.

Speaking to VGC, Kamiya hinted that even if the game is released in 2021, it will not be within a few months.

"January. Something has to come out, right? I think it's safe to assume that something will come out. We've got a lot left this year," Kaymiya said.

Writer Andy Robinson pushed Keimya further, asking if fans could expect any updates other than the CGI logo.

"I understand that we've got fans hooked! What I would suggest in light of that is that maybe we should reset and forget about Bayonetta 3," Kamiya said. 'That way, when something finally happens, it will be a nice surprise, won't it?'

PlatinumGames is a Japanese studio known for creating high-octane action games. It was founded by Shinji Mikami ("Resident Evil 4"), Atsushi Inaba ("Astral Chain" producer), Hideki Kamiya ("Okami") and Tatsuya Minami ("Resident Evil").

The studio's recent projects include the philosophically confused but incredible "Nier: Automata," the Nintendo Switch exclusive "Astral Chain," and "The Wonderful 101: Remastered").

Luckily for Bayonetta fans, Sega has released a 4K 60fps remaster of the original Bayonetta for PS4 and Xbox One. Bayonetta 2 has also been ported from Wii U to Nintendo Switch. But beyond that, fans will have to wait.
