We recently heard about a bug in the PS5 that only affects those who own Samsung TVs. The issue was apparently very frustrating, as it meant that the player could not get a 4K/120Hz picture when HDR was turned on.

Samsung's community support confirmed that the problem was widespread, but it was a PS5 issue, not a Samsung TV issue. However, Samsung says a fix will be in place by the end of March.

The news comes from Samsung's own community support page, which states that Sony "will be releasing an update in March that will enable 4K 120Hz HDR." The page reiterates that the PS5 will need to be updated, although the TV software does not need to be updated for this fix to take effect. Also, since the problem is caused by the game console, the TV will not require any type of repair.

The update is at least a month away, but players can work around the issue by downgrading the PS5's settings. According to Samsung, you can play at 4K/120Hz if you turn off HDR, but you can also downgrade to 60Hz to enjoy 4K and HDR together. Unfortunately, getting all three together is currently out of the question.

Obviously, this is not the only bug that affected the PS5 at launch. There are always problems with new technology that cannot be pointed out until thousands of players start using the console in a real environment, and this is a prime example.

But while this may be frustrating for those with games that are compatible enough with 120Hz Samsung TVs, it is not the worst problem in the world. After all, you can still play the console in some way and not be stuck in an endless download loop.

But the wait is not that long. With a little patience, you will soon be able to play games in 4K, 120Hz, and HDR. Or you can replace your TV with another top-of-the-line gaming TV. But that may be going a bit too far.
