No matter what happens, Cyberpunk 2077 can't seem to escape bad news. However, developer CD Projekt Red warns players to be careful when installing mods.

Apparently there is "a vulnerability in an external DLL file that can be used to execute code on a PC. A fix will be released, but in the meantime, CDPR warns against installing mods from "unknown sources." In other words, don't install mods.

Anyone who knows anything about PC games knows that mods are basically free, especially now that CDPR has released the official mod tool for Cyberpunk 2077.

With the existence of this vulnerability, it means that anyone can sneak something dubious into your PC under the guise of a mod for the game. Be it a fix for one of the many bugs, or an illegal mod that allows you to have sex with Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand.

Unless you can read and understand the code of a mod, you should probably hold off on putting it in until CDPR can distribute a fix and confirm that it works. Thankfully, the flaw does not affect gameplay, so you can play Cyberpunk 2077 as usual.

However, you can't turn your car into Thomas the Tank Engine or something equally absurd; the beauty of mods is that you don't have to stick with the same assets and features that come with the game. Hopefully it won't take too long to fix the problem.
