New on Netflix: 5 Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (August 5-11)

This week's schedule of new TV shows and movies on Netflix is highlighted by the final season of Netflix's original programming.

"Umbrella Academy" returns for its fourth and final season this Thursday. In the previous season, the Hargreaves children of Umbrella Academy faced off against the Hargreaves children of Sparrow Academy. That multiverse adventure ended with the Hargreaves children saving existence from oblivion, but now they must stop the apocalypse once again.

I want to know more. There is so much more. Here's a daily roundup of what's new on Netflix this week. Also, be sure to check out our top list of new shows available on all major streaming services.

This week's number one top pick is one that kids will enjoy, or at least give their parents a break. Although "Gabby's Dollhouse" only started in 2021, the DreamWorks Animation toddler show has already racked up 60 episodes. In the show, Gabby (Lila Lockhart Kraner) and her feline friends have adventures in Gabby's Dollhouse, which has various themed rooms.

Season 10's theme is holiday. Join Gabby and the Gabby Cats for 10 fun-filled episodes celebrating birthdays, family days, and even the other side of the holidays.

"Love is Blind" has been a staple of Netflix reality shows since it launched in early 2020. Hosted by husband-and-wife team Nick and Vanessa Lashay, the show pairs a man and a woman to see if they can find true love. The only catch. They cannot meet until they are engaged.

Now, after several successes in other countries, Netflix is launching "Love Is Blind: UK." Celebrity couple Emma and Matt Willis will guide 30 British singles to true love, this time over a three-week period. The first four seasons will be available on Netflix this week.

"Umbrella Academy" tells the story of the Hargreaves siblings, seven children adopted by the eccentric Sir Reginald Hargreaves as part of his plan to save the world. They have prevented the apocalypse from occurring several times before, but in Season 4, it seems they will have to save the world one last time.

The problem is that after the timeline was completely reset in the wake of the battle at Hotel Oblivion, things were generally, well, fine for everyone. But with the possibility of a group called the Keepers upending everything from the ground up, the Hargreaves kids have no choice but to fight them, even if it means destroying everything they have already won. This season, the new cast includes real-life couples Nick Offerman as Dr. Gene and Megan Mullally as Jane Thibedeaux and David Cross as Cy Grossman.
