Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Design Change Leaked, May Finally Solve This Longstanding Problem

Despite being one of the best phones you can buy, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is not for everyone. Aside from its high entry price, its large 6.8-inch size, combined with its angular design, means that it is not an easy device to hold for long periods of time.

However, according to the always reliable leaker Ice Universe, Samsung is plotting ways to address the comfort issues of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

"The middle frame of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is designed asymmetrically in the front and back," this leaker wrote in a post to X. He continues, "The middle frame near the back cover is more rounded, while the part closer to the screen is straighter," and opines that the change is intended to make the device "more comfortable to hold.

"The huge middle frame, which was bothersome, is narrower and essentially the same width as the S24. So the visual bezel will be narrower than the S24U," added Leeker.

In a reply to a comment, Ice Universe confirmed that Samsung will not be returning to the curved display it abandoned with the S24 Ultra. In other words, from the description so far, it sounds like the frame will more closely resemble the 2015 Galaxy Note 5 - the last flat-screen, stylus-packed phone before Samsung adopted an angular design for its flagship.

Of course, that outdated design won't be replicated elsewhere. Expect the same edge-to-edge display as recent flagships and a much thinner design, to boot. In a previous leak, Ice Universe said the S25 Ultra will be just 8.4mm thick: 0.2mm thinner than this year's model and 0.5mm thinner than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Given that the handset is not expected for at least another 6 or 7 months, the Galaxy S25 rumor is still early. Also, speaking of surprises, there is talk of the Plus model being discontinued.

Particularly for the Ultra, there is talk that the camera array will be greatly improved, with the ultra-wide angle and 3x telephoto lenses jumping from 12MP and 10MP to 50MP, respectively.

Leaks are expected to heat up in the coming months as release dates become more visible. In the meantime, Samsung introduced a massive six products at last week's Summer Galaxy Unpacked and has many new technologies to fulfill: the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Ring, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the Galaxy Watch 7," and "Galaxy Watch Ultra," rest assured that we will digest a full review of these products in the near future.
