Trend Micro Partners with Intel to Deliver New AI Security Solutions

Cybersecurity software maker Trend Micro has announced plans to create the first security solution specifically tailored for AI PCs.It is expected to hit the mainstream market this summer.

Trend Micro has created some of the best antivirus software programs for both mobile and Windows platforms. In the company's announcement, the Texas-based company said a new AI "security solution" will be launched in late 2024.

Trend Micro appears to be the first company to introduce programs aimed at AI. Other cybersecurity giants like Norton and McAfee have announced they are using AI in their virus and malware detection systems, but nothing focuses on the new risks that AI computing can bring.  Based on this announcement, it seems that Trend Micro plans to partner with Intel to release more AI-focused products that address the risk of AI breaking into the tools we use every day.

The company focuses on addressing AI computing risks in 2 ways. Trend Micro claims it is working to protect AI applications from model tampering and "knowledge base addiction.""The 2nd thing is to use npu (Neural Processing Units) to protect your email. The company now claims it needs to send email content to the cloud for threat analysis. With newer, more powerful Npu built into the latest laptop chips from Apple, AMD, Intel and Qualcomm, Trend says their programs can perform email fraud protection directly on AI PC devices. This is supposed to provide more data protection and reduce the distance the data travels.

Trend Micro's announcement didn't go into detail on how these new features work, but we'd like to see them for ourselves when they debut later this year.
