Samsung phones will never get this new Android feature — what you need to know

Yesterday, Google announced its latest Android feature drop with 7 new features to help you improve your daily life in some way. But if you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy, the number drops to 6. That's because it turns out that you already have something similar to the instant hotspot feature.

Instant Hotspots are designed to make it easier for Android tablets and Chromebooks to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots. As with any other network, rather than entering a password to connect, these devices can connect instantly — a password must be

Google has not detailed why Instant HotSpot doesn't come to Samsung phones. Perhaps it was Samsung's decision, and I think it may have something to do with not having 2 features that more or less do the same but nothing has been confirmed, so there is no way to tell what is going on behind the scenes.

Instant hotspots work between Android phones, tablets and Chromebooks, which is kind of a limitation if you just have an Android phone. Samsung's automatic hotspots are almost the same and only support other Galaxy devices that you have signed in to. So again, if you do not have a galaxy tablet or other galaxy phone, this feature is more or less useless to you. However, as Android Police has pointed out, Samsung's phones are compatible with the phone link feature of Windows11, alongside the Honor, Oppo, OnePlus, RealMe, and ROG phones of your choice. This means that anyone who has one of these phones can take advantage of the instant hotspot feature of Windows11. Once the setup is complete, the user can activate and connect the phone hotspot from windows11PC.

This isn't a Samsung-only feature, but it's something you can't do with the Google Pixel or Motorola Edge yet. This can make up for the inability to connect your Samsung to a Chromebook with a single tap. Then other compatible phones like OnePlus or ROG phones should be able to do both.

But if you are the owner of an existing Samsung Galaxy phone, it's important to know how things are different for you. There is no incoming instant hotspot feature, but you have your own version. Don't try to connect to a Chromebook or a non-Samsung tablet - otherwise the automatic hotspot won't work.
