According to Young, the panel shipment is expected to take place in 2024 Q4 and is ready for production to begin ahead of the 2025 Q1 release. If that's true, it means this foldable could be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S25.
Young has not divulged many details about the device, but claims to have screen dimensions. However, these are retained for the next foldable report of the DSCC. However, Young added that this foldable will be slimmer than the existing Samsung foldables because there is no digitizer to convert the s-pen input.
Interestingly, Young also claims that the new folding could be called the Galaxy Z Fold6Ultra — you've already heard rumors. Young claims that the name has not yet been determined, but on the basis of this information alone, the "super" moniker does not make sense.
There is nothing super about a phone that offers fewer features than its counterpart. If there's anything to remove the feature, it's what you'd expect from one of Samsung's FE series 1, with some other sacrifice and low price tags. And again, I can't really conclude anything right now because I know nothing else about what this hypothetical Fold6Slim has to offer.
The big question is how much this new Z Fold6Slim costs. Rumors about the cheap foldable have been circulating for years, and for some time the Galaxy Z Fold6FE finally seemed to scratch its itch. Unfortunately, that phone is obviously canned, so I'm wondering when the big-screen foldable one will start to fall in price.
The Galaxy Z Fold6Slim may be the phone we all have been waiting for. But the prospect that it is potentially an ultra-model means I have doubts. Sadly, that's not something we'll be clear about anytime soon. Certainly not before the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold6.
