Google Dropped a New Veo Video - OpenAI Should Be Worried

Google's AI lab DeepMind has removed many videos showing off the new Veo artificial intelligence video platform. This is Google's answer to OpenAI Sora.

This video shows the potential of the system that can be accessed from the VideoFX lab project at Google Labs. The shots include a variety of camera angles and techniques that users can play with when the platform becomes widely accessible.

Instead of sharing a lengthy explanation, Google decided to let that video talk. This includes a time-lapse clip of the Northern lights illuminating the snowy landscape, while another shows a pan shot of a waterfall in the center of the forest.

Veo is Google's most capable video generation model to date. While not fully available to all users around the world yet, Veo can create 1080p videos with a wide range of movie and visual styles in 1 minute.

U.S. users can register on VideoFX's waiting list to convert text prompts to AI video with Veo models.

The company said that Veo "accurately captures the nuances and tones of the prompts and offers an unprecedented level of creative control understanding prompts for all kinds of cinematic effects like aerial shots of time and landscapes."

One of X 1 shared videos revealed a close-up of a puddle that reflected the dazzling lights of Tokyo at night. This shows the versatility of the Veo and captured the right tone and mood in this classic setting.

Another video featured aerial shots of a lighthouse surrounded by waves hitting the surrounding cliffs.

This could be the perfect choice for established shots for filmmakers who have no access to drones. This is in line with Veo's goal of creating tools that will give everyone access to video production.

In

X, Google DeepMind writes that the newly released video is "unedited, unedited output."They were also accompanied by a fairly simple prompt written in plain English – the lighthouse clip was generated using a two-line prompt.

It specified that users can create shots that include extreme close-ups, slow-motion crane shots, and time laps. However, he added that in addition to these techniques, there are many other possibilities.
