Google answered GPT-4o with a demo of Gemini using a video that's just a conversation

After OpenAI was impressed with the GPT-4o model, Google followed up with the Conversational Gemini demo, and the future of AI also looked bright.

Google has released a new video showing off a Gemini prototype on the Pixel, which uses live video and voice prompts to provide information. This video appears to have been taken during the Google I/O setup, which starts on 5/14.

In the demo, they ask a Pixel phone running Gemini AI to show them the stages they're putting together for Google I/O and what they think is going on. Correctly it says that it looks like a stage where a large event is set up. When the characters appear on the screen, Gemini says it's for Google I/O and provides a brief description of Google's upcoming events.

Like OpenAI's latest ChatGPT demo, Google's Gemini video is impressive in terms of how natural the conversation feels. It's easy to forget that there's no one behind the voice coming out of the Pixel device. If it was two friends sitting and talking, it would move just as naturally.

It's hard to say which one is better without testing 2 AI models, but both are impressive. Based on these 2 demos, you need to be excited (and perhaps a bit nervous) about the future of AI. And according to OpenAI, it will only get much better from here.

As exciting as the Google demo, the company has come under fire in the past to make a much more impressive AI demo than it actually was. These Gemini changes need to be put into practice before we know for sure how good they are, but if the video is an accurate representation, the AI battle is just beginning. Google's keynote is scheduled to launch Google I/O, so you'll soon learn about Gemini's plans and the company's many other projects.
