The OnePlus Open is at the top of the list of the best foldable phones, so it's no exaggeration to say that we're excited to see how OnePlus will follow up on its first foldable smartphone. However, the latest leak suggests that the OnePlus Open2 may be released at some point in 2025, so we need to wait a while.

According to 2 prominent tipsters at X (formerly Twitter), OnePlus Open2 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8GEN4 chip, which is unlikely to be available to device manufacturers until early next year. Qualcomm has not yet announced the upcoming processor, but if history shows, the company is expected to announce Snapdragon 10 or 11 on the 8gen4 this year. 

The first snapdragon 8GEN4 phone should be available globally in the first few months of 2025, but note that the OnePlus Open2 is not guaranteed to be among them. 

Given how well-received the oneplus Open was when it launched in 2023, it's disappointing news. Even beyond the original review, OnePlus found more ways to understand all the features that are packed into this affordable foldable phone, for example, Richard left his laptop for a day's work with just an open canvas of the phone, and Jeff Parsons, the British editor-in-chief of Tom's Guide, said: Happily put his iPhone to try it out as his primary device - perhaps the greatest support you can hope for any foldable.

A lot remains unclear about OnePlus's 2nd grade foldable efforts, and if this latest rumor is to be believed, that could soon change: the OnePlus Open2 will be on the shelves about the same time as the Oppo Find N3 series, just as the original OnePlus Open was released on the international market as the rebranded Oppo Find N5.
