When Sora was announced by OpenAI in early May 2, compared to other generated AI video tools, it quickly became a big kid on the block. 

Currently, Google has announced Veo, a new generation media model aimed at creating 1080p high definition video. Announced during the Google I/O event, Google claims that the Veo can create videos that are more than 1 minute long, but did not specify a time longer than 1 minute. 

Veo is also supposed to understand movie terms such as "make a time-lapse" and "Aerial shots of the landscape." Currently, Veo is only available to some users within VideoFX. If you're interested in checking out Veo, there's a waiting list where curious filmmakers can sign up.

In the meantime, Google shared some videos created by Veo on VideoFX. Read on to see the 5 that we found most interesting and the prompt input to the veo to create them.

Between the Imagen photo generative model and Veo's capabilities, Google is leaning towards realism. This turtle video feels like something out of Planet Earth and other ocean-based documentaries.

In comparison, this inflatable blue man is ridiculous. The reflection of light on the head does not feel quite right, and there is a feeling of unreality about the asphalt itself in the parking lot. The camera moves a little nauseating. It shows that there is a way to go, but it is impressive nonetheless.

Google really crochet as one of the promotional images for the Imagen3 model although it looked more like a toy than this vibrant rainbow of mammals. 

Color edging and color contours are what really attracts attention about this. It feels like 1 unified part, and not just a crochet pattern slapped into an elephant-shaped hole.

This was what paused us with a perspective image from a cyclist going down a smooth mountain path. The mountain itself reminds me of the mix of the Swiss Alps and the early summer Sierra Nevada of California.

This video is impressive only with smoke effects. Video games and movies made by humans in the era were still struggling with smoke effects, but this video seems to bring it down. 

The colors filtered through the smoke are equally interesting. If the smoke is thin, it would be nice to see how the Veo handles different levels of opacity, especially with the human face behind it.
