LG's roll100,000rollable OLED R TV is officially dead — and for good reason

LG is the first of its kind to be introduced in 2019, featuring kibosh on its appetizing 65-inch rotatable OLED TV.

The signature OLED TV R showed a new promise in a field that was completely refreshing and largely relegated to projector screens. However, launching at an astronomical price of 100,000 astronomical proved its conceptual nature, unlike similar products that debuted at CES last year, like the LG transparent OLED TV.

The idea of a rolling OLED TV is fascinating, but it has failed to attract much of its consumer base and has not seen any major updates since 2021. Its premium sticker price is a clear pain place, but it is also not accurate among the best LG TVs on a technical level.

Instead, THE AFOREMENTIONED signature OLED T transparent TV, IN PARALLEL WITH OTHER HIGH-END OLED displays LIKE THE BELOVED LG C4OLED TV, LG'S NEXT MAJOR production OLED TV R AND A POSSIBLE future edition OF its production LINE WILL be scrapped SOON.

Despite being an attractive concept that allows a living room TV to disappear into the stand with the click of a button, the idea of rollable OLED LG unveiled the product at CES2019 and later launched it on a 65-inch screen at an asking price ofド100,000.It is equipped with a 100W Dolby Atmos speaker system on the base, which corresponds to the case when there is no 1 of the best soundbars.

Given this balanced sound system, OLED R was also intended to be used as an alternative home audio device. It came with 3 main modes; Zero view when the TV was fully drawn to the base, full view when it was at maximum TV height, line view that slightly raised it for various "moods" such as music, animated content, fireplace, rain, etc.

rollable OLEDs will be updated later in 2021, but that seems to have done little in a way to sway consumers into the platform. Since its launch, the price of the OLED R has fallen to about887,000. LG doesn't seem to find a way to dramatically reduce production costs or find an alternative way to sell it at a more affordable price.  While it may not be among the best OLED TVs, the rollable OLED R lineup will be missed and, interestingly, will survive on the LG OLED T transparent TV. You can witness a similar rolling technique being used as the dark pane scrolls up to counter the transparent mode. The OLED T is expected to be officially launched later this year.

It's unclear what the starting price will look like, but if there's an impact on OLED R, you can expect a considerable investment in OLED transparency. LG also brought the WIRELESS LG M3OLED TV to MARKET.This has proven to be an exciting new entry that could spell the future of the display industry.
