Xbox plans to release the next Call of Duty installment on its subscription service at launch, so we're putting all the cards on the front of the game pass. 

The report comes exclusively through the Wall Street Journal claiming that an official announcement from Microsoft is planned for next month's Xbox Showcase, which is planned on 6 May 9.

This is an interesting move, which usually makes premium games available to gamers for a monthly subscription fee between gamers70 and monthly9.99. Game Pass has been heralded as one of the best value in the game and has access to over 150 titles, many of which are major hits such as Grand Theft Auto5, Lies of P and Starfield.

Meanwhile, PS5 and PS4 players will have to pay the full amount to experience the next Call of Duty outing.  

Call of Duty's next blockbuster, with yet to be announced but a release date that is supposed to land sometime towards the end of 2024, is the one that surrounds the ever-growing Xbox Game Pass catalog with its incredibly large fan base, several different series and Battle Royale experience in Warzone. Thus, PS players make up the bulk of the Call of Duty player base. This was a key part of the debate over Microsoft'sActiv2023Activ10 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard, which was signed on March 13 to 754. Xbox has not yet added the old Call of Duty game to its subscription service, but with this recent announcement, you can find a new home with Game Pass. 

It's not entirely clear what the next Call of Duty installment will be, but many reports suggest it will follow along with the Black Ops series that took place in the Gulf War. As with all previous releases dating back to the revival of Modern Warfare, this new entry will have connective tissue with both Warzone and Warzone Mobile. 

The Game Pass has proven a remarkable selling point for gamers. For justわ10 on a basic monthly plan, you get access to a variety of experiences, not just Xbox branding. An additionalー16 a month grants you access to cloud gaming services, letting you play your favorite games on the go via WiFi or cell service. 

Microsoft claims the service is hosted by as many as 3,400 million subscribers announced earlier this year. Its major date and date launch of Starfield has driven a record number of subscriptions to the service, which could be reflected in the soon-to-be-released Call of Duty sequel. 

An Xbox game showcase and a "redacted" direct with appropriate titles is planned for May 9, and the latter should give call of Duty fans a better insight into what to expect with the franchise's next title. The live stream will start from 10am PT/1pm ET across Xbox Social.
