Microsoft Build2024Preview-AI laptops、Copilot、Windows12と他にも問題が解決されているか

If the 2024 Microsoft Build developer conference kicks off this week and the years before it are any indication, there could be a lot of announcements about Windows11, Microsoft Copilot, etc.

It is expected to hear about a bunch of new features and products from Microsoft, as well as laptops and PC Mae to announce new Windows devices coming out this year

Many of these laptops are laptop and Pc marketing buzzwords of 2024, so the entire marketing material has been updated. It's a safe bet that "AI" is splashing around. The rise of AI laptops shows no signs of slowing down and could be even more exciting if the 2024 build debut of a large number of AI laptops with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X chip is predicted to be true.  The leaked Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite benchmarks indicate the chip could compete with the latest Intel Meteor Lake chips, and even the Apple M3 chips that drive the latest Macbook, and as Microsoft continues to push "AI" into every corner of the business, the new laptops we met at Build2024 are the latest laptops to be powered by Windows. Showcasing AI features is cheap

heck, you can even get a glimpse of Windows12 (or whatever the next version is branded) at build time, but if Microsoft is going to launch a new version of its flagship OS by 2025

Next week at Microsoft Build2024, we'll have live reports with microsoft representatives and talk to the intrepid team. We are working to bring you all the latest news when it breaks. Here's what you expect to see on the show.

First of all, we expect to hear a lot about the new features and upgrades coming in the upcoming Microsoft services.

As Microsoft pushes AI further into its products, we expect Windows and Copilot to be the stars of the show. You'll almost certainly see new ways to tell Copilot what to do, new features in the service, and new ways to integrate with Microsoft products like Excel, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.

Keep an eye on the release date and disclaimer about the features that will be locked behind Copilot Pro's month20/month paywall when that happens. Microsoft actually has a habit of announcing new co-pilot features that take months to roll out to users, and now that the company has a clear monetization scheme for the service I think many of the cool and most useful features will be offered with limited access or to people without a co-pilot pro subscription. There is no doubt that it will be completely unavailable to you.

I also expect that there will be tons of new Snapdragon laptops announced next week that are timed to build 2024.

For example, we know that Dell will host the Dell Technologies World event in Las Vegas the same week as Build.  We also saw leaks about upcoming products that enhance this, just as the new model of the Dell XPS13Plus was leaked to debut on Snapdragon X Elite onboard. In fact, according to rumors, Dell plans to announce several new versions of laptops with Qualcomm's new chip. That's a big deal, as notebooks with Snapdragon X Elite can crush Intel-powered laptops in at least 1 critical area.

Even the best Windows laptops have struggled to keep up with Apple's laptops in this key performance area since the Macbook started shipping with Apple silicon inside. But Qualcomm has been beating the chest about how powerful and power-efficient its new Snapdragon laptop chip is, I think the test results of our laptops are very good.

And I don't think Dell will be the only major laptop manufacturer to drop a few new Snapdragon laptops during the build — we've seen reliable reports of the Samsung Galaxy Book4Edge with Snapdragon X Elite coming soon, and the Microsoft Surface Pro10 and Surface Laptop 6 with Snapdragon X Elite.

Personally, I really hope the last report is true, as the debut of the Surface Pro10 and Surface Laptop 6 for business earlier this year was a real disappointment. Both devices have made it clear that the surface lineup (with the possible exception of Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio2) has been boring, dying and in dire need of a serious redesign for years.

But even at the time of their announcement, the "for Business" suffix revealed that these new Surfaces are not intended for use as personal laptops. So the Snapdragon chip

prediction that I'm most unsure of is to tease the next version of Windows in build 2024.

Microsoft has not said much of something specific about what comes next for Windows, but the CEO of Qualcomm did in a revenue call earlier this year. Specifically, the company's chief executive, Cristiano Amon, said the laptop packed with the new Snapdragon X Elite chip will debut "mid・2024" and the launch will coincide with "the next version of Windows." So it seems that you will also get at least a sneak peek of the next version of Windows, as you expect to see the first Snapdragon X Elite laptop in Build2024.

But the question is how it really will be a whole new Windows release with a new name like Windows12. Or is it going to be a big feature update for Windows11 that Microsoft rotates as the "next version of Windows"?

I think it's possible in any case, but in my mind I have a hard time believing that by 2025 there will be an entirely new version of Windows. Since Windows11 was released in 2021/10, it seems that it is not easy for Microsoft to turn around and release a new version within 3 years.

But then the AI PC craze appeared to be only a big growth on the side of Intel, Microsoft and others trying to boost Pc sales after the post-pandemic slump. A new version of Windows with a big focus on AI features and features on devices could be 1 way for Microsoft to get people to buy new AI Pcs

If you care about Windows Pcs, Build2024 will be worth noting, it will be heard about many new features and products that we will be coming in the next 1 year.

Of course, it's better to tighten yourself up to hear the "AI" said at least a few hundred times during the week. All indications point to Microsoft's focus at least next year, so we expect the announcement about new Windows features for Windows and the new Snapdragon X laptop to include a heaping dose of AI.

I'll be there directly and the rest of our team will cover 2024 build remotely all week, so stay tuned for the new features coming in future microsoft products.
