Ever since I first put on my PSVR headset in 2016 and had my first experience with gaming in virtual reality, I have longed for one thing: to be able to play games in virtual reality. And after years of waiting, my dream is finally coming true.

Alien Rogue Incursion is a just announced VR game that will be released this holiday season on Meta Quest 3, PSVR 2 and PC VR (via Steam). The first teaser trailer reveals little more than the name of the game, but the official website confirms that it is "an all-new single-player action horror VR game featuring an original storyline," and my anticipation is almost immeasurable.

I was happy with the official VR mode of the excellent "Alien: Isolation" alone, but an all-new game built from the ground up for virtual reality is more than I expected. The game is being developed by Survios, and Rogue Incursion claims that it is "a game by Alien fans for Alien fans."

Survios has plenty of VR experience, having developed titles such as Creed: Rise to Glory and The Walking Dead Onslaught (the former was warmly received, the latter coldly). and has extensive experience in VR. And since the title is being produced in full cooperation with 20th Century Games, which owns the Alien IP, we are optimistic that it will be a faithful and authentic game set in this beloved universe.

I am also excited that it is being proposed specifically as an "Alien" game, rather than being labeled an "Alien" game. As much as I love James Cameron's 1986 sequel, the original 1979 horror film is superior in my eyes; the idea of confronting life-size Xenomorphs in VR is already making me shiver with excitement and fear!

Now is a good time to be an "Alien" fan: not only is the original film being released again for the 45th anniversary, but the latest in the franchise, "Alien: Romulus," will be released in August and an "Alien" TV show is in development. Now all we need is "Alien: Isolation 2" and all my dreams will come true.
