One of my favorite romantic comedies is coming to Netflix today.

A new month brings new content to one of the best streaming services, and it looks like Netflix will be delivering another new genre in May. For me, I love all things horror, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood. So when I'm scrolling through countless thrillers and horror movies, I find myself drawn to a good romance drama.

"The Edge of Seventeen" is the movie I watch when I don't want to be sweaty and harried with fear. This mix of romance, drama, and comedy is perfect for a relaxing evening over your favorite snacks, and even though it was released eight years ago, it stands out among other comedies and has a high Rotten Tomatoes score.

If you've scrolled through all the movies and series available on Netflix today but aren't sure how you feel, give "The Edge of Seventeen" a try. To elaborate on its plot and convince you further, here are a few reviews. [In particular, high school senior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) still doesn't know how to overcome her clumsiness. To make matters worse, Nadine accidentally discovers that her older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) has started dating her childhood best friend Krista (Haley Lou Richardson). Now, the overwhelming pressure to find her place in the world mixed with a broken friendship has her feeling more alone than ever. Then she meets the thoughtful Erwin (Hayden Seto) and everything becomes a little lighter.

"Edge of Seventeen" is a coming-of-age film about Nadine growing up alone. Change and growth are a big part of being a teenager, and she struggles to support herself even in her darkest moments.

You may not immediately like Nadine because of her constant self-pity, but the character's growth throughout the film is worth it. During this time, she must build friendships, deal with family trauma, and learn how to love herself even when she almost loses it.

"The Edge of Seventeen" still holds an impressive score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 83%. Eight years after its release, the film remains a rom-com classic that everyone should experience, teenager or not.

Kristen Lopez of Culturess says: "Edge of Seventeen is being compared to John Hughes' work because it is destined to become a classic that teenagers seek solace in. He said. Ollie Richards of Empire magazine, on the other hand, said the film "deals with common teenage concerns - dating, family, school - in a way that tries to transcend genre clichés."

US Weekly's Marla Reinstein also rings true on the subject of adolescence: "Thanks to its edgy sense of humor and painfully accurate sadness, the film will touch a nerve with everyone who has ever ridden the high waves of teenage angst. By the way, that means everyone."

The review has some criticism. Tim Grierson of Screen International says: "'The Edge Of Seventeen' has sweetness and slight wisdom. It's too generic to recommend, but it's an enjoyable enough coming-of-age comedy-drama to make you curious about what the writer-director and stars will do next.

You can currently stream "The Edge of Seventeen" on Netflix. The film perfectly depicts the journey of a troubled teenager who can't find her place in life, and broken friendships and family trauma make life even worse. Everyone goes through the process of growing up, so everyone should be able to relate to it in some way.

Steinfeld's performance makes the film even better. By having a teenager play a teenager, she was able to capture all the relatable thoughts and feelings that Nadine had. I will always remember romance dramas with realistic and relatable characters, rather than scripted, one-dimensional characters.
