Snapchat is finally adding the ability to edit sent messages. This is one of several upcoming changes to the messaging app.

As first introduced on ZDNet, the app will allow users to edit messages they have sent. However, messages can only be edited for five minutes after they are sent, and must be edited before the other person replies. Once the other person replies, the message is fixed with typos and mean words that they did not mean to say.

Another caveat is that although this feature is coming, it will only be available to Snapchat+ subscribers. It has not been announced when the editing feature will be available to others.

As a comparison, Instagram allows editing and users have 15 minutes before being locked into typos. Also, the meta-owned social network does not require a subscription to edit messages.

Snapchat has long had emoji and Bitmoji avatars, but users could not respond to messages with emoji. Instead, they could react with Bitmoji. Surprisingly late in the game, this feature is now available; it's like farting during an Android call.

Along with emoji reactions in chat, the company is also adding the ability to react to friends on Snap Map. "You can wave to your friends as you pass them on your morning commute, or send them a heart when you see that they have arrived at their destination safely," the company said in its announcement. These are only available to those who choose to share their location.

Speaking of Bitmoji, Snap is adding a new way for users to customize their avatars. This feature uses AI prompts to allow users to create "unique" patterns and place them on their avatar's attire.

Finally, Snap is promoting My AI, an artificial intelligence tool. The latest update adds a new way to use it; the My AI tool is provided by ChatGPT, but Snap does not reveal which version it uses. Notes.

Users can set reminders by sending a message directly to the My AI tool or in a conversation with a friend. The tool then creates a calendar notification in the app.
