5 Best Shows Like "Baby Reindeer" on Netflix, Prime Video, Max

"Baby Reindeer" has taken an unexpected breakthrough on Netflix. The British comedy thriller has taken the No. 1 spot in both the U.S. and the U.K. and currently ranks as my favorite show of 2024 (though Prime Video's "Fallout" is a close contender).

Based on Scottish comedian Richard Gadd's real-life experiences of being stalked, harassed, and sexually assaulted, the show is engrossing, often highly challenging, and still dominating social media buzz weeks after its debut.

With seven relatively short episodes (and several of them under 30 minutes), viewers may have finished watching the Netflix series and may be wondering what to watch next.

The chances of a "Baby Reindeer" Season 2 being produced seem pretty slim, but that doesn't mean you can't find similar series on some good streaming services. The show's careful balance of serious subject matter and dark comedic elements can be found throughout this list of picks, so here are some of the best shows like "Baby Reindeer" that you can watch right now.

If you're looking for a show closer to the tone of "Baby Reindeer," you can't go wrong with the equally excellent "The End of the F***ing World." This British drama also shares an aesthetic similarity, blending serious subject matter with dark comedy. The two shows are even from the same British production company.

"The End of the F***ing World" features 17-year-old James (Alex Lawther), who believes he may be a psychopath with no empathy and a desire to kill. His target is Alyssa (Jessica Barden), a nagging classmate, but she also has a tendency to care. But when she suggests they run away together, James' murderous plans are put on the back burner and they embark on an ill-fated road trip.

Have you ever had a bad-tempered encounter with a stranger, gone your separate ways, and then had the memory of the event stick in your head and dominate your thoughts for hours afterward? Beef" is a very foul-mouthed comedy-drama that takes such an uncommon experience to the extreme.

After an initial hostile encounter, both men go to extraordinary lengths for petty revenge, and their comically exaggerated feud begins to see their lives spiral out of control, putting everything from their careers to their relationships at risk. The Beef is both a farce comedy and a cautionary tale. This Netflix show, consisting of 10 episodes, is perfect for weekend binge-watching.

Like "Baby Reindeer," "Chloe" explores the darkest side of obsession. The main character in this prime video show is Becky (Erin Doherty), a lonely woman who lives at home with her mother; comparing herself to the perfect people she sees on social media, she becomes obsessed with the account of her old classmate Chloe (Poppy Gilbert).

When Chloe dies suddenly, Becky creates a fake identity, Sasha, and blends into Chloe's social circle. This allows Becky to live freely and become the person she has always wanted to be, but as she gets further into her new alter ego, the line between reality and imagination blurs and Becky's true identity threatens to come to the surface. A thriller series that draws you in from the first episode, "Chloe" is a timely commentary on our obsession with social media.

The most critically acclaimed show of 2020 (according to Metacritic), "I May Destroy You" is a dark allegory about the modern dating landscape and the often uncomfortably thin line between sexual liberation and exploitation. Starring Micaela Coel as Arabella, a young novelist who, despite the success of her debut novel, is struggling to write her next novel in the face of public scrutiny and the pressures that come with success.

The morning after a night out with friends in London, she struggles to remember what happened that night, but with the help of her friends Terry (Welche Opia) and Kwame (Paapa Essiedu), she understands with horror that she was drugged and sexually assaulted. The drama follows her efforts to rebuild her life after experiencing such devastating trauma. Like "Reindeer Babies," it portrays a very serious subject with dark humor.

Netflix's popular thriller series "You" will conclude its fifth season later this year. (New York bookstore manager Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) becomes obsessed with a graduate student named Guinevere Beck and attempts to enter her life.

"You" definitely doesn't take the stalking theme as seriously as "Baby Reindeer," but to the show's credit, it is very watchable if you don't mind a few rather large holes. If you want something you can sit through for a couple of weeks after "Baby Reindeer," "You" is the best on this list. Just don't expect the same quality screenplay.
