Top 7 New Shows Available This Week on Netflix, Max, TV and More (May 6-12)

The first week of May brings more new shows premiering this week on Netflix, Max, other streaming services, and on broadcast and cable TV.

This week's lineup of new shows has something for everyone. For a silly, song-filled spectacle, we want Eurovision 2024. Want a time-traveling sci-fi adventure. Get into the Tardis with "Doctor Who" Season 14 or enjoy "Dark Matter" on Apple TV Plus. If you want a dark comedy/mystery, check out "Bodkin" on Neflix. Here are the top new shows to check out this week.

The annual Eurovision Song Contest returns for its 68th edition, this time in Malmö, Sweden, with 37 countries, including Luxembourg, which will compete for the first time in 31 years, in the semi-finals on May 7 and 9. The top 10 vote-getters, the "Big 5" automatic qualifiers, and the host country Sweden will vie for the ultimate honor in the final on May 11. The Code" by Nemo of Switzerland and "Rim Tom Tagi Dim" by Baby Lasagna of Croatia are the early favorites.

Author Blake Crouch adapts his science fiction novel, " Joining Apple shows such as "Foundation," "Silo," and most recently "Constellation. Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) is a Chicago-based physicist and professor. He is the husband of Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and the father of her teenage son Charlie (Oakes Fegley). One night, on his way home, Jason is abducted into an alternate version of his life, where he sees "what might have been." There he sees "what might have been." He embarks on an arduous journey back to his original reality and family in order to save them from a terrible enemy - himself.

Premiering on Apple TV Plus on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:00 a.m. ET

This dark comedy thriller follows a trio of podcasters investigating a mystery in the vein of "Murder in the House." American podcast host Gilbert (Will Forte) and researcher Emmy (Robin Carra) team up with Dublin-born journalist Dub (Siobhan Cullen) to investigate a mysterious disappearance that occurred decades ago in an idyllic Irish coastal town. Arriving during Samhain, a traditional Gaelic harvest festival, the three discover that Bodkin is harboring a small but significant secret.

The second season of the "Pretty Little Liars" spin-off welcomes a new subtitle and a new villain who may or may not be related to A. Tubby, Noah, Imogen, Farran, and Mouse are forced to haunt the halls of Millwood High instead of having fun in the sun. Imogen meets her new boyfriend, and Noah reunites with a past lover. However, a terrifying figure known as Bloody Rose puts all the girls to the test.

In last fall's 60th anniversary special, "Sex Education" native Nuchi Gatwa made his first appearance as the 15th Doctor, becoming the first black actor to play this iconic role. Now, he officially boards the Tardis and joins Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday in an adventure through time and space. Doc and Ruby are headed to places far and wide, including Regency England, the 1960s when the Beatles were active, and a future world ravaged by war. Along the way, they encounter friends and enemies, including Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson), the Duchess (Indira Varma), Paul McCartney (George Caple), John Lennon (Chris Mason), and a mysterious figure played by Jonathan Groff.

The dark, dangerous, and sexy story continues in Season 2 as vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) meets journalist Daniel Molloy ( In an interview with Eric Boghossian, he reminisces about the past: after an incident in New Orleans in 1940, Louis and teenage fledgling Claudia (Delaney Hales) head to Europe to discover Old World vampires and the vampire theater in Paris. There, Louis meets vampire Armand (Asad Zaman), and their love affair has devastating consequences for the past and the future.
