Usually, when Samsung releases a new Galaxy S flagship, a discounted FE is released about six months later. However, this may not be the case for the Galaxy S4 FE, a discounted version of the Galaxy S24 model that was introduced in early 2024. The latest rumors suggest that the Galaxy S24 FE may be delayed.

As the Dutch site Galaxy Club notes, the Galaxy S24 FE will not be released until late fall or possibly early 2025; the Galaxy S23 FE was released in October 2023, about eight months after the Galaxy S23.

And also FE phones in Samsung's lineup have always had erratic release schedules. The Galaxy S22 FE never shipped at all, and the Galaxy S21 FE arrived just a month before the Galaxy S22's launch.

The earliest leaks suggest that the S24 FE is a pretty good phone, with rumors that it will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in North America while models shipping in other parts of the world will feature an Exynos 2400. This is the same approach that Samsung used in the main Galaxy S24 model.

The battery in the Galaxy S23 FE is believed to be a 4,500 mAh cell, similar to the one in the S23 FE. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip has better power management than the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip in the S23 FE.

As for storage, 128GB or 256GB capacities are expected, with 12GB of memory, a step up from the 8GB of RM on the S23 FE.

The up-in-the-air release schedule highlights the problem that Samusing has been positioning the FE model since the standard Galaxy flagship model dropped in price to a starting price of $799. If the FE release date is too late, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S flagship would be closer to its release date.

Adding to the confusion is Samsung's own mid-range phone lineup, led by the Galaxy A55, which is less expensive than the FE but offers fairly impressive specifications. Regardless of when Samsung releases the Galaxy S24 FE, one would have to argue that there is still a place for this device among Samsung's best phones.
