SimpliSafe, a manufacturer of smart DIY home security systems, announced early availability of its new Live Guard Outdoor Protection service to select customers. The subscription combines AI technology with a team of live surveillance experts to monitor the perimeter of outdoor premises 24/7. If an agent spots an unknown person, they can speak directly with that person, activate camera sirens, and even dispatch priority police to deter crime before it enters the home.

This world's first outdoor live security monitoring relies on AI and facial recognition. Like Google's Nest Cam, the app allows users to create and delete friendly face profiles of family, friends, and neighbors. Simply activate the camera you want to use the alarm service on, and it will utilize advanced AI to detect when someone approaches the premises and see if that person matches one of the customer's saved profiles. This ensures that they only receive alerts for unknown visitors.

Suppose someone does not match any of the saved profiles. In that case, an expert surveillance agent could use the camera's live video to identify the impending threat, speak to them in real time using the camera's two-way audio, and deter potential intruders by sounding a siren.

The new LiveGuard Outdoor Protection service wants to give you even greater control over your privacy; SimpliSafe agents choose which cameras to monitor and when to arm the system. This means that your surveillance agents will only have access to the video they need. All live and recorded video is securely encrypted and cannot be accessed by the monitoring agent after the event has been confirmed and terminated.

Live Guard Outdoor Protection is currently available to qualified SimpliSafe customers through an Early Access program that can be found at SimpliSafe.com. However, it will be available to all customers later this year. The service is part of SimpliSafe's Fast Protect technology, which aims to provide the fastest detection, deterrence, and prevention from home security systems. Extending protection to the outside of the home will undoubtedly help achieve that.

In our review of Simplisafe, we found the security system to be an affordable and approachable option with a quick response time. However, we noted that some of the features locked behind the $23 monthly interactive plan should be made available on the standard plan; whether the upgrade to Live Guard Outdoor Protection is worth the price is a real We'll have to wait and see if it's worth the price.
