How to watch Spider-Man movies online in the order of release.

While Disney-owned Marvel has spent considerable time and money over the past few years integrating film and television rights for its various superheroes, the on-screen adventures of Marvel's signature character, Spider-Man, remain somewhat scattershot. This is true both of the complex narrative continuity and of the availability of streaming movies.

Two different actors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, play web-slinging heroes in the Sony-produced film, which exists separately from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that began in 2008. Thanks to a deal between Disney and Sony, Spider-Man joined the MCU in 2016, played by Tom Holland, but his films are still produced by Sony and are not always available on Disney Plus, the MCU's primary streaming destination.

And there are other Spider-Man films that Sony continues to produce outside of the MCU, including the animated Spider-Verse films and live-action films featuring Spider-Man-related characters (but no Spider-Man). Let's take a look at how to stream all of the Spider-Man movies.

The Spider-Man movie adventure began in 2002 under director Sam Raimi, with Tobey Maguire playing teenager Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst playing his friend and future love interest Mary Jane Watson. Raimi's Spider-Man films remain among the most acclaimed superhero films, featuring actors such as Willem Defoe, Alfred Molina, and Thomas Haden Church as the villains.

Disney Plus brought Raimi's film to the service alongside the MCU's Spider-Man films.

After Sam Raimi's efforts to make a fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man film fell through, Sony directed The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his girlfriend Gwen Stacy The franchise was relaunched with Rhys Ifans and Jamie Foxx have played the main villains in two of Garfield's films.

Like Raimi's films, Webb's films are distributed on Disney Plus, with streaming rights rotating elsewhere, including Netflix and Apple TV Plus (through May 14, 2024).

Thanks to the deal between Disney and Sony, the modern era of Spider-Man films is divided between the MCU, where Tom Holland as Peter Parker interacts with other Marvel characters, and Sony's own films. Holland debuted as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Holland debuted as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and then appeared in his own solo film.

Miles Morales' version of Spider-Man, voiced by Shameik Moore, is the star of the animated film Spider-Verse, alongside a number of other spider-themed superheroes.

However, even though they are part of the MCU, these films may not be available on Disney Plus anytime soon. Currently, streaming availability is split between the various services, and it will take a little more effort to catch up with all of these films.

In addition to co-producing Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man films with Marvel and producing its own animated Spider-Verse films, Sony is leveraging its extensive film rights to Spider-Man-related characters. Sony's live-action Spider-Man Universe films will feature those related characters, not Spider-Man himself.

Some of these films have also made their way to Disney Plus, but streaming availability continues to vary.
