11" iPad Pro 2024 may be hard to find at launch - why?

Apple has finally revealed when the new iPad models will arrive: the first iPads with 11-inch and 12.9-inch OLED displays have been rumored for some time. Unfortunately, the smaller of the two may be a bit more difficult to obtain initially due to shipping issues.

According to display analyst Ross Young, shipments of OLED displays for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro are increasing. This appears to be due to the fact that Samsung, which has supplied some of the displays for the smaller tablets, is facing "technical challenges" in their production because of the two light-emitting layers in the panels.

Young had previously predicted that LG would produce the 12.9-inch OLED displays and that both Samsung and LG would produce 11-inch panels. Given that Young does not predict a shortage of larger screen iPad Pros, it is likely that LG does not have the same problem. Or, at the very least, the production problems are probably not having as great an impact on the larger panels.

Unfortunately, Young predicts that the problems plaguing 11-inch display production will continue through May. That means the 11-inch iPad Pro could be harder to find than the 12.9-inch model, as the smaller model will be cheaper and more desirable for those eager to upgrade to OLED.

How much cheaper is not clear. Currently, the 11-inch iPad Pro is $300 cheaper at $799, but it too has a regular LCD display; the $1,099 12.9-inch model has a miniLED XDR display, with all the advantages this panel offers, including vivid colors and deep blacks There are. Since both new iPad Pros are expected to feature OLED panels, the price difference may not be that great. But we will have to wait until May 7 to find out for sure.

Other upgrades expected to come with the new iPad include a new slimmer design, an Apple M3 chip, a new camera with a horizontal position, an upgraded Magic Keyboard, and a third-generation Apple Pencil.Let Loose There are also reports that a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air will be unveiled at the event, although it will not feature an OLED display.

Sadly, if you are hoping to get your hands on an 11-inch iPad Pro when it is released, we suggest you accept the fact that you may have to wait. Whether it is to get on the backorder list or simply to hold out until inventory levels normalize in the near future. Until then, stay tuned to the iPad Pro 2024 hub for the latest news and rumors about the upcoming tablet.
