Sony has long focused on bass, and the Ult series, announced today (April 11), is designed to take bass sound to the next level. The new lineup includes the Ult Wear headphones ($199/179 lbs.), two portable speakers, the Ult Field 1 ($129/119 lbs.) and Ult Field 7 ($499/399 lbs.), and the series' largest and loudest Bluetooth speaker system, the Ult Tower 10 ($1199/999 lbs.).

All models in the Ult series are designed to provide an enhanced bass level through the Ult button, which allows the user to switch the sound signature to two levels of emphasized bass. from the name Ult and the sound signature, it is clear that its heavy bass output is associated with words like "Ultimate" and " Ultra," but according to Sony U.K., the series name means absolutely nothing. In any case, it is a fresh departure from Sony's traditional numerical naming convention.

I was able to listen to all four models at their UK launch in London earlier this week. Bass levels across the entire series are more powerful than expected, and the sub-bass-enhanced sound literally shakes the room and your ears.

All Sony Ult models will be available in April and are already listed on Sony's website, with pre-orders expected to arrive by the end of the month.

Sony's Ult Wear wireless headphones feature custom 40mm drivers and are said to use the same V1 chip found in the flagship Sony WH-1000XM5. The tech giant said the headphones feature Bluetooth 5.2 with support for AAC and SBC, but no mention was made of Sony's LDAC, which delivers a higher quality stream when connected to compatible playback devices.Wear is expected to support LC3 after a software update is expected to support LC3, but not aptX or aptX HD.

The new wireless headphones are said to use beam-forming microphones for powerful voice calls. There are dual noise canceling microphones with plastic wind filter mesh.

As for battery life, Sony tells us that the Wear will offer 30 hours with ANC on and up to 50 hours with ANC off, which is more powerful than the WH-1000XM5.

Sony's price is $199/179 pounds, with color options of black, off-white, and forest gray.

Sony's Ult Field 1 and Ult Field 7 portable Bluetooth speakers will be available later this month.

Both speakers are built with a portable yet rugged design. They are IP67 rated for durability and are protected against water, dust, shock (from drops), and even rust. Sony says it is the perfect partner for poolside, trips to the beach, and festivals.

Both can be placed vertically or horizontally, whichever suits the situation. They can be stood up like a tower, hung with carrying straps, or placed on a table. In addition, the Ult Field 7 features Sony's Sound Field Optimization, which detects noise and automatically changes sound settings to ensure clear music even when surrounded by other sounds.

Ult Field 1 claims up to 12 hours of battery life, while Ult Field 7 claims 30 hours of battery life and acts as a power bank for USB-C connected devices. With fast charging, users can get 3 hours of playback on a 10-minute charge.

Users can pair two of the same speakers in stereo or connect and sync up to 100 speakers to create a large music installation. Both models feature ambient lighting to enhance the mood.

The Ult Field 1 is expected to be priced at approximately $129/£119 and the Ult Field 7 at $499/£399. Both models are available in black, off-white, forest gray, and orange color options.

The Ult Tower 10 is the largest and loudest Bluetooth speaker system in the series. It looks similar to the SRS-XV900 and is ideal for large gatherings.

Karaoke fans are provided with jack sockets for microphones and for guitars, allowing for maximum karaoke enjoyment.

Thankfully, it comes with a handle (given its size and 64 lb/29 kg weight) and two casters on the back of the base so it can be tilted and rolled into place like a trash can on wheels.

Like the Ult Field 7 speakers, the Ult Tower 10 features Sound Field Optimization, which detects noise and automatically changes sound settings so that you can enjoy clear music even when surrounded by other sounds.
