The second stage from Irun to Cambo is by no means flat, but it is an advantage for the sprinters who have made the journey.

Starting with six uphill sections in stage 3 (the last of which is in Arzas, 20 km before the finish), the next four stages are all uphill. The intensity of the climbs eases a bit in stage 4, but it will still be a tough stage for the sprinters. [The 175.9 km from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Amorebieta-Ecchano has five climbs, including the infamous Urquiola hill. The sixth and final stage, with six major climbs, is a brutal stage to end the week-long race.
