Apple App Store and Apple TV Plus down for an hour due to a major outage

Don't Try to Adjust Your iPhone - Apple's App Store was down tonight (April 3), along with Apple Arcade, Fitness Plus, Apple TV Plus, Apple Podcasts, and other cloud-based services. As of this writing, the services appear to be back up and running, but while the outage continued, it affected iPhone and iPad users as well as other Apple platforms including Mac and Apple TV set-top boxes.

During the outage, Apple's system status page indicated that other services such as iCloud, Apple Pay, and FaceTime were working without problems.

Still, a significant portion of Apple's services were unavailable for at least an hour. The System Status page began recording outages after 6:30 p.m. ET, and several services came back online after 7:30 p.m. ET; Down Detector showed the first report of an Apple outage after 6 p.m. ET. The Down Detector indicates that the first report of an Apple outage came in shortly after 6:00 pm ET.

By 7:50 PM ET, the System Status Update page showed that all affected services were up and running again, with the exception of AppleCare on Device. [According to Apple's System Status page, the full list of affected services is as follows:

Apple customers who attempted to access affected services received error messages during the outage. For example, when attempting to launch the App Store on an iPhone, the message "Cannot Connect" appeared. Similarly, the Apple TV set-top box displayed the message "Content Unavailable."
