Nothing teases new release in April - could be a major competitor to AirPods

Nothing may be preparing for another big release this year with social teases suggesting new earbuds after debuting the Nothing Phone 2a in March.

First spotted by 9to5Google, Nothing posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a beetle and a frog, suggesting a simple "Play Date" and an April 18 release date.

Many speculated that the social post was primarily related to the upcoming Nothing earphones.

Nothing will no doubt bring an exciting update to its earphone lineup on April 18, but if that is not enough, two new phones codenamed "Tetris" and "PacmanPro" by the end of 2024 Phones could also be on the way.

Last year, the highly touted Nothing Ear (2) was announced in a similar fashion and, incidentally, teased with a beetle, as shown in a post dropped on Thursday, April 3. This may mean that Nothing will be bringing several new audio products to market, including a refresh of the Nothing Ear (2) and a completely different earpiece.

Unknown at this time, the new earbuds could be the Nothing Ear (3), which may be introduced to compete with Apple's much-loved AirPods Pro 2. As with its other products, Nothing's audio technology tends to be unconventional when it comes to looks and aesthetics, but with a few improvements, it could join the ranks of the best wireless earphones.

To get the latest news on Nothing, which will be announced during a community update on April 18, sign up for updates at the official website. But while the possibility of new Nothing Ear earbuds is incredibly exciting, it is not the only thing that Nothing has planned for the near future.

According to X user Dylan Roussel, the next Nothing Phone concept will be announced by the end of the year, coined "Tetris" and "PacmanPro," respectively, the anticipated Nothing Phone 3 and Nothing Phone (2a), which may be the community version of the Tetris. Leading up to its release, the Nothing Phone (2a) was codenamed "Pacman."

Nothing is set in stone yet, but the April 18 community update should bring excitement to the earpiece world. If you can't wait that long, you may want to try Nothing Ear (2) before the next high-end audio release.
