Fans of dark political satire will love "Regime," starring Kate Winslet. She plays Prime Minister Elena Varnum, the leader of a fictional European country that begins to fall apart when she begins to suspect that the palace is infected with mold spores. In the midst of tremendous paranoia, she consults Herbert Zuba, played by Matthias Schoenaerts.

This bizarre and entertaining six-episode series is not to be missed. The jabs at the over-the-top personalities common to dictatorships make for a unique viewing experience. The final episode will air on April 7. So, if you are looking for other shows like "Regime," here are some recommendations.

For a political satire show about women in positions of power, look no further than Veep. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Selina Meyer, a former senator who became vice president of the United States. Unfortunately, it was everything she had feared, not everything she had hoped it would be. Like Prime Minister Elena Burnham, she juggles political battles, public responsibilities, and her personal life. All the while, she is trying to make an impact and improve her relationship with the president.

The series has won 17 Primetime Emmy Awards, proof that it is worth watching. Louis-Dreyfus is not the only talent on the show. Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, and countless others play their roles to perfection.

If you like the historical atmosphere and politically driven plot of "The Regime," you'll love the recently premiered Starz miniseries "Mary & George. Created by D.C. Moore, writer of the charming "Killing Eve," the show tells the fascinating story of Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham. She prepares and encourages her son George Villiers (Nicholas Galitzine) to seduce King James I (Tony Curran).

Julianne Moore gets into the manipulative persona of her character and makes the series an entertaining presence. Dark comedy abounds, and the sensuality and violence are still present. In short, there is something for everyone, depending on what you are looking for in a series. In addition, the sets and costumes are immaculately done, enhancing the overall experience.

A corny comedy that parodies the British royal family. All the royals, including Charles, William, and Harry, are portrayed in the most exaggerated and offensively funny way. Regardless of one's feelings about the monarchy, this is an ideal film for those who enjoy political satire.

The series was nominated for a BAFTA award. It was also adapted for the stage and played in London until October 2021. So far, only three seasons are available for streaming, but a fourth season is in the works.

Crooked aristocracy, power struggles over empire, and humor are all on display in "The Gentleman." Based on Guy Ritchie's 2019 film of the same name, the film is true to its premise: a man inherits his father's estate, which turns out to be a weed empire. Eddie Horniman (Theo James) must learn to manipulate the dangerous man who has become a part of his life while keeping his family safe.

Ritchie also worked on this series, and fans are bound to want to check it out for that alone. You'll find plenty to enjoy here, including crisp dialogue, superb direction and acting, and a fascinating plot that will capture your imagination.

Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) has her sights set on entering the exclusive social circles of Palm Beach in 1969. Wig's antics are fun as she tries to infiltrate the elitist world while also trying to get out of the mess. Her high-wire performance is reminiscent of Elena in The Regime. "

There is plenty of drama along the way, sometimes sombering. But the comedy is also alive and well, as is evident when you consider who the stars of the show are. We see great comedic talent from Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, and Allison Janney, among others. In addition, 90s kids may be pleased to hear that Ricky Martin also appeared in this series, in a role he hasn't had since his soap opera days.
