Google Assistant Glitch Prevents Pixel Users from Hearing Alarms - What You Need to Know

A post to X disclosed a strange bug occurring in Pixel phones, where the Google Assistant deletes all of the phone's alarms rather than turning them all off

The bug was discovered by Artem Russakovskii, who posted that 49 alarms were inactive, but all 50 or so were deleted The bug occurred when Artem was trying to stop an alarm on a speaker in another room and was able to reproduce the phenomenon

The second user in the thread confirmed that he had noticed this issue months ago We contacted Google and got a response We received the following response from a Google spokesperson "We are aware of a reported issue with Assistant commands deleting saved alarms on Android We are working on a fix"

After some investigation by Android Authority, it was found that telling the Assistant to turn off all alarms on the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 7 instead deleted all alarms on the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixle 4a 4G tested with the same bug However, non-Pixel devices with Google Assistant built in do not have this bug

This is not the only Pixel-based bug seen in recent months Last year Google had to release a patch for Android 14 due to a bug that caused the phone to get stuck in a constant boot loop

Thankfully, this bug, while certainly annoying for users with multiple alarms, is less of a nightmare for users than that previous problem The bug is most likely a code issue and should be relatively easy to fix, but if it has been occurring for several months, it is possible that Google is unaware of this problem

The Google Pixel series is a great phone and the upcoming Google Pixel 8a promises to be an outstanding device However, we hope that Google will provide a fix soon, as these minor issues can drive users away from the brand
