Vizio has announced a huge 86-inch 4K TV at a staggeringly low price.

Vizio has long been known as a value TV manufacturer, offering large screen sizes for about half the price of Samsung and Sony TVs, and the latest addition to its 2024 lineup, the 86-inch 4K TV series, continues this trend.

According to a press release sent to Tom's Guide from Vizio, the 86-inch will be available at select retailers starting April 28 for $999. Wal-Mart is already in a deal to buy Vizio for $2.3 billion, which will no doubt include Wal-Mart, but probably other retailers as well.

What this 86-inch behemoth brings to the table, besides an unbeatable price, is Vizio's 4K TV series, which supports Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and offers 4K resolution, as its name suggests, at 120 fps gameplay is possible, but the resolution must be reduced to 1080p to achieve this frame rate.

Currently, Vizio's 4K TV lineup includes 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 70-inch, and 75-inch models, but the 86-inch version, scheduled to arrive in April, will be the largest of the bunch.

The 86-inch Vizio 4K TV is unlikely to rank on our best TV list, given its price. However, inexpensive TVs in general are no match for Samsung's and LG's more expensive QLED and OLED TVs.

Where will manufacturers cut costs? Backlight technology is perhaps the most critical area, and the best OLED TVs are expensive because the larger the OLED panel, the more expensive it is to manufacture.

That said, I have to give the edge to Vizio on this price point: an 86-inch TV for under $1,000 is truly impressive. Hisense's U8K is $999 for a 65-inch, while the 85-inch is $2,199.

We don't have a crystal ball, but our gut feeling is that if this TV goes on sale for $999, it will drop significantly on Black Friday 2024.

Can't wait until fall? Don't miss out on the great TV deals on sale right now.
