Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 leaked, claims amazing charging speed for a flagship

If you're hoping that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 might take a page from the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra and increase their charging speeds, you should prepare to be disappointed. Rumor has it that both models will once again stick to the 25W charging speed.

This comes from leaker Ice Universe, who posted what appears to be Chinese regulatory information about both models on Twitter/X. This information includes charging and power supply specs, and it appears that both models have a maximum input of 3.3-5.9 VDC at 3A, or 25W.

This is disappointing news. Samsung's Galaxy S24 Plus managed to increase its maximum charging speed to 45W this year, and some had hoped that the upcoming foldable phone might be able to do the same. However, according to these specs, that does not appear to be the case.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the trade-off one gets when purchasing a foldable phone. Since their initial debut, Samsung's foldable phones have commanded very high price tags without the high-end specs that one would expect from the Galaxy S series.

Users of foldable phones generally have to pay hundreds of dollars more and contend with, among other things, a less-than-impressive camera and smaller battery. Frankly, Samsung will have to do better if it wants to remain competitive in the ever-expanding foldable phone market.

An improvement in maximum charging speed would have been a small upgrade, but still would have been welcome. Especially since Samsung's foldable phones generally do not last that long on a single charge. In our battery tests, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 lasted 10 hours and 55 minutes compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra's 13 hours and 9 minutes. So having the option to quickly refill the battery, especially to get through an intensive day, could make a big difference in the mobile experience.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to launch later this year, and there is word that we may see the duo's arrival a bit earlier than usual. Rumor has it that doing so would allow them to be announced ahead of the 2024 Olympics, of which Samsung is a major sponsor.

However, we won't know for sure until Samsung actually confirms those details. So until then, be sure to check the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 hubs for the latest news and rumors.
