Coming to Max this month is "Zone of Interest," a poignant World War II historical drama that won three Academy Awards this year, including Best International Feature Film and Best Sound.

In the literal shadow of the Auschwitz concentration camp run by Rudolph, a German couple lives within a perfect wall.

The film does not turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany against the Jews, but it is more background noise than a starring role. The real horror comes from observing the ordinary lives carved out by a family that sees their position in the Holocaust as merely a means to a better life.

Over the years, HBO and Max have built a reputation for having some of the best miniseries on television. This month, Max is adding a new entry to its roster: "The Sympathizer," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Viet Nguyen.

Part spy thriller, part cross-cultural satire, the seven-episode series follows a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the Vietnam War. When the fighting ends, he begins a new life in Los Angeles, where he discovers that his spy days are far from over.

"The Sympathizer" is a co-production of HBO, A24, and Rhombus Media and boasts a stellar cast that includes: Hoa Shuang De, familiar to animation fans from Netflix's live-action "Cowboy Bebop" remake; Killing Eve and Sandra Oh of Grey's Anatomy fame, and Robert Downey Jr. playing multiple antagonists.

Premiering on Max on April 14,

If you enjoyed "Scott Pilgrim Takeoff," you may want to revisit where it all began.

Michael Cera stars as Scott, an aimless 20-something in an unsuccessful indie garage band who has unfinished feelings for his ex-girlfriend (Brie Larson). On a path of redemption of which he is unaware, Scott makes the mistake of dating a high school student (Ellen Wong), but soon meets Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the woman of his dreams. But soon after, he meets Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Ramona has seven evil exes and Scott must defeat them if he wants to win her heart. It's the amazing supporting cast that makes "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" a must-see cult classic.
