"Anyone but You" was one of last year's most pleasant surprises. This glossy romantic comedy starring two impossibly attractive leading men (Sidney Sweeney and Glen Powell) was a global box office success. It was a well-timed reminder that the humble romantic comedy still exists in cinema.

After a successful winter theatrical run and a digital release in February, "Anyone but You" is ready for its streaming debut and is now available on Netflix, which has decided to make the film available on Tuesday, April 23 (see (from Variety).

The romantic comedy will feature "Hibike! Euphonium star Sydney Sweeney as Bo and handsome Glen from Top Gun: Euphonium star Sydney Sweeney and handsome Glen Powell from Top Gun: Maverick as Ben. After a magical first date that turns sour the next morning, the two go their separate ways, but are forced to get back together when a mutual friend starts dating and later announces their engagement.

Heading to a lavish destination wedding in Australia, Bo and Ben initially go at each other's throats and make a series of snarky comments, but after a bickering nearly ruins the moment, they keep the peace and agree to be together to make their respective exes jealous. They agree to pretend to be together to keep the peace and make their respective exes jealous. Of course, while pretending to be the perfect couple, real sparks fly.

If you are looking for a movie that keeps you guessing or shocks you with unexpected twists and turns, you can skip "Anyone but You" without fear. But if you're looking for a fun romantic comedy with lots of laughs, several likable characters, and a great recurring gag involving Natasha Bedingfield's earworm pop song "Unwritten," then you'll love it.

Critics were not so enamored with the film. It currently has a score of 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences gave it very different reviews. The film's unexpected box office performance indicates that the general public found a lot of enjoyment in Anyone but You.

Its arrival on Netflix in April should serve the dual purpose of introducing the film to an even wider audience and giving those who saw it in theaters a great excuse to rewatch it.

No word yet from Netflix on whether the version of the film coming to the streaming service will be the extended cut that was released last month in time for Valentine's Day. We may have to wait until April to find out.

The films include "No Hard Feelings," starring Jennifer Lawrence, and the Academy Award-nominated "Up in the Air," featuring the star-studded trio of George Clooney, Anna Kendrick, and Vera Farmiga.
