OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R revealed - prices below.

The OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R have been officially announced, and OnePlus has finally revealed the prices of these phones. And the good news is that they are cheaper than you might have expected.

The standard OnePlus 12 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage will sell for $799/849 pounds, while the 16GB/512GB version will also sell for $899/999 pounds. These will be available starting February 6.

At this price, OnePlus is comparable to or below the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and Google Pixel 8 Pro. Furthermore, the OnePlus 12 is likely to be the most affordable choice among this year's flagship smartphones.

In addition to its attractive price, the OnePlus 12 also boasts the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a 5,400mAh battery capable of 100W wired charging (80W in the US) and 50W wireless charging. Photos are provided by a Hasselblad-tuned camera system that includes a new 64MP 3x telephoto camera, 50MP main, 48MP ultra-wide, and 32MP selfie sensor.

Besides, OnePlus also claims that the 12's 6.8-inch 2K display has an impressive brightness of 4,500 nits. Whether our lab tests can replicate these results remains to be seen, but it looks to be the brightest phone we've ever tested. [Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12R is the first R edition OnePlus phone to go on sale in the US and UK, at $599/£649 for the 16GB RAM/256GB storage version. However, U.S. shoppers can choose from a lower-priced $499 model of the OnePlus 12R with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. This puts the OnePlus 12R in direct competition with the $499 Pixel 7a.

The OnePlus 12R will go on sale on February 13, slightly later than the regular OnePlus 12.

This is an unusual price for a premium smartphone, but that may be a good thing; OnePlus' choice to offer the 12R at the same price as the Galaxy S23 FE and boxed iPhone 13, and cheaper than the Pixel 8, without paying the full cost may tempt users who want to get most of the experience of a flagship smartphone without paying the full cost.

The OnePlus 12R uses the older but still powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and a chunky 5,500mAh battery that is charged with the same 100W/80W wired charging standard as the OnePlus 12. The camera is a combination of 50MP, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 16MP selfie, but without the Hasselblad branding like the OnePlus 12.

OnePlus also gave the 12R an Aqua Touch display feature (also on the OnePlus 12). Also alive and well is the classic OnePlus Alert slider, a feature that we believe is important to OnePlus fans and worthy of inclusion in a modern smartphone.

Also just announced is the OnePlus Buds 3 at $99/99 pounds. Considerably cheaper than the standard AirPods 3, the buds feature active noise cancellation and sliding volume control gestures like the much more expensive AirPods Pro 2. They may be a good choice for those who need earbuds to go with their new OnePlus devices.
