Pixel 8a Retail Box Leaked - Here's the First Look at Google's Next Phone

Recently leaked on X is the first official image of the Google Pixel 8a, or at least its box.

The image of the Pixel 8a's flat box was shared on X by user @chunnvn8888. The artwork of the box confirms that the design of the Pixel 8a leaked last year was consistent with the leaked renderings of the Pixel 8a and photos of the actual device. While previous leaks showed the Pixel 8a in a new blue color, this latest image shows what is believed to be the Pixel 8a in a black finish instead.

This image is much higher resolution than previous leaks, and we can see that the camera rubber is not connected to the side frames. Also, the frame of the Pixel 8a is more curved than previous models, presumably meaning it will be more comfortable to hold.

Previous leaks have indicated that the Pixel 8a will have a 6.1-inch screen, which is only slightly larger than the current Pixel 7a. Unfortunately, the box does not provide any information about the phone's hardware or features that would confirm this or tell us anything new.

Another prior leak allegedly revealed the Pixel 8a's Geekbench score, but that was not good news; the Galaxy Pixel 8a was claimed to have an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chip released in the Google Pixel 8 series It was claimed to be equipped with it; reviews of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro showed that the chip's performance was still lagging behind other smartphones. To make matters worse, the Pixel 8a's Geekbench results were 1,218 points in the single-core test and 3,175 points in the multi-core, lower than the 2022 Pixel 7 Pro's scores.

It should be noted that while these Google Pixel 8 leaks, including the new images shared on X, appear legitimate, nothing is known for sure until it is actually released. We expect that to happen at Google I/O in May, the usual launch time for Pixel a-series phones.
