Arguably one of the best fitness trackers currently available, especially if you like its minimalist design, this new tool further expands Oura's range of wellbeing features. Everything you need to know about resilience tools and how to use them can be found here.

The Resilience feature was announced in 2023 and will finally be rolled out to the Generation 3 ring. Its purpose is to help people develop resilience, sometimes known as mental strength, the ability to cope when faced with difficult situations.

In a recent interview with Tom Hale, Oura CEO, we learned how Oura plans to evolve after the release of the "Daytime Stress" and "Reflection" tools last year. Resilience is just one of many health features that members can expect in the future.

Hale noted that this feature "creates an assessment of a member's ability to withstand physiological stress" by looking at stress load and recovery during the day and recovery during sleep. Resilience should help members "balance stress and recovery" by using insights and recommendations from Oura.

In an interview, Hale said, "Our long-term vision is to shift the health care paradigm from one that is disabling to one that puts people in the driver's seat of their own health.

Daytime Stress, released in October 2023, helps track moments of stress down to the minute using biometric indicators such as nighttime heart rate variability (HRV), heart rate, body temperature, and variations that may indicate stress. Then, with updates every 15 minutes, the user can see which of four stress levels he or she is in.

Next came the AI-powered "reflections" tool, which allows users to voice record and journal their moods and thoughts within the app; AI integration suggests tags to "connect the dots between mind and body" to help prioritize recovery and put stress in context to help prioritize recovery and put stress in context. Some studies have found journaling to be effective in managing stress and improving health. If you are not familiar with the Daytime and Reflections tools, learn more about the latest features of Oura Ring, including how to use them.

Mindfulness is booming, and Oura is miles ahead of the game in the wearable-trackable mental and physical health on your finger. Samsung's Galaxy Ring will be available this summer, and Amazfit is launching its own smart ring, the Helio.

Since the phased rollout began last year, Oura has been digging into data from its members, with surprising results. According to the data, users "show higher stress duration on Fridays and Saturdays."

In addition, the average time "users are stressed" is 95.6 minutes per day, with 50% of users reporting "stressful" days. Not surprisingly, alcohol is an important factor. According to the company, those who sipped alcohol had "a longer average duration of stress," about 138.5 minutes, compared to an average of 92.6 minutes for all users.

One study by researchers at San Diego State University and the University of California, Irvine to help pregnant women reduce stress looked at people who used the Headspace meditation app and Oura in a month-long trial. According to their data, participants "reported a significant reduction in anxiety, improved sleep quality, and increased energy levels."

So far, the rollout is being done in phases and members will receive random access; while you may not see these features in the Oura app right away, be sure to update your firmware and keep checking your settings.

Those with access will be able to view "Stress during the day" from the homepage, and "Reflection" will be available as a home card at the end of the day, along with "Guidance before bedtime."

Active Gen3 and Gen2 members and iOS owners should be able to access the tool.

Over the next few weeks, as users gain access to Resilience, we will update this page with instructions on how to use the feature. While you wait, check out all the wellbeing features of Oura Ring and get a head start.
