While Apple continues to source components for its next budget iPhone, the iPhone SE 4 is still likely to be released in 2025

The Elec reports that screen component makers Samsung Display, Tianma, and BOE are negotiating prices for OLED displays with Apple These displays are believed to be built to the same specifications as those on the 61-inch iPhone 14, a significant upgrade from the 47-inch LCD panels on the current iPhone SE

As a result of the iPhone 14 screen, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a notch with Face ID instead of a thick bezel with a Touch ID home button Some sources claim that the new iPhone SE will feature a Dynamic Island like that offered by the iPhone 15 series, but this seems unlikely given that the iPhone 14 featured a notch

Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone SE 4 could incorporate more from the iPhone 14, including diverting the iPhone 14's battery However, Apple may try to differentiate the new SE from its older flagship by having only one rear camera (although it could be a high-resolution 48MP camera)

The latest iPhone SE from 2022 uses the basic design and components (minus the chipset) of the iPhone 8 from 2017; even the design based on the 2022 iPhone 14 is a bit dated at this point and will be even older next year but it will make a big difference for the new iPhone SE

If 2025 is the year for the new iPhone SE, I imagine it will appear in the spring or summer like the previous iPhone SEs and will still be priced under $500 like the best other budget phones If so, it would be a cheaper alternative to Apple's usual $800+ flagship models, replacing the iPhone 16 series, which will be released as planned this fall
