Apple TV Adds Killer Multi-View Feature - YouTube TV Should Be Jealous

Apple TV will be a major upgrade to the iPad's multi-view in MLS this season

The MLS season kicks off today (Feb 21) at 8 pm ET with Inter Miami CF taking on Real Salt Lake To watch it, you'll need to turn off your MLS Season Pass from Apple TV - home of all MLS games and exclusive home of this kickoff match But the season really kicks into high gear this Saturday, with 11 games on the day and eight at the same time at 8:30 pm ET

Luckily for soccer fans, Apple TV allows them to watch four of these matches on the same screen thanks to Multiview This feature is compatible with MLS Season Pass and MLB Friday Night Baseball content and was previously limited to the Apple TV Smart TV app or streaming devices like the Apple TV 4K

This season, however, the multi-view feature will be extended to the iPad This is a big upgrade for sports fans, especially since it is a feature that is sorely lacking in YouTube TV's multi-view functionality

Starting this season, Multiview will work with the Apple TV app on iPad OS for MLS Season Pass

This version of MultiView is the same, full-featured version you get with the Apple TV app, including the ability to customize which games - up to four - you can watch at a time If you don't have enough games, you can also add MLS Season Pass content to Multiview, such as studio shows and original features In addition, touch gesture controls can be used to take the viewing experience up another notch

This is a major advantage over the YouTube TV version of Multiview, which is just beginning to offer the ability to customize Multiview's game selection Currently, YouTube TV's Multiview only works on some smart TVs and streaming devices, not on web browsers, laptops, or mobile devices

Of course, that's not to say that Apple's Multiview is perfect Apple just launched an all-new Apple Sports app to make it easier to follow your favorite teams, but it doesn't yet work on the iPhone It also only covers MLS and MLB content, whereas YouTube TV offers access to a wider range of sports, as well as news, weather reports, and more

But bringing Multiview to tablets is a big improvement and a huge advantage for Apple TV, and we hope YouTube TV steals this feature soon
